What this website does not do
It sets no cookies. It embeds no analytics or statistics tools. It contains no forms, no user account, no newsletter and no comment function. On the text pages — home, radar, topics, about — it loads no content from third-party servers: fonts, stylesheet and scripts reside on the same web space, so there is no connection to third parties and no transmission of your IP address to them.
For the tools this holds with two exceptions, listed individually in the next section. That sentence stood here without qualification for a while; with the tools it is no longer true in that form, and a privacy statement that promises too much is worse than one that names the individual case.
The tools
/en/werkzeuge/ holds 24 calculators and reference works. They calculate in your browser. What you enter is not transmitted to this website and stored nowhere — it does not leave your device, and I do not see it.
Two exceptions, both limited to individual tools:
- The CO₂e calculator and the route optimisation load a map library from unpkg.com; the CO₂e calculator additionally loads two export libraries from cdn.jsdelivr.net. Opening those two pages transmits your IP address to those providers. On every other page this does not happen.
- Only if you search for a place in the CO₂e calculator or in the route optimisation do the places you enter go to nominatim.openstreetmap.org (places to coordinates) and router.project-osrm.org (the route), with map tiles coming from tile.openstreetmap.org. Without that search no place names are transmitted; you can also enter the distance by hand, and then everything stays in the browser.
The search (“Lena”) in the bottom right also works in the browser. On opening it loads an index of this site’s own pages from this web space; what you type is not transmitted — there is nowhere for it to go. It does not query an AI model but shows the matching place on this site. A search cannot invent anything; that is the reason for building it this way, not its drawback.
Stored in your browser in exactly one place: the green supply game keeps your progress locally so it is still there next time. That is not a cookie, it is not transmitted, and it can be cleared with your browser data at any time.
Serving those libraries from this web space instead of fetching them from third-party servers would be better — the transmission to unpkg and jsDelivr would then disappear entirely. That is intended; until then it is stated here.
Server log files
When a page is requested, the hosting provider automatically records the data every web server needs in order to deliver it: the address requested, the time, the volume transferred, browser type and operating system, the referring page and the IP address. This data is not merged with other sources and serves technical operation and security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — the legitimate interest in operating the website without faults and securely.
The web space is operated by World4You Internet Services GmbH, acting as a processor in that respect.
Contact by email
If you write to me, I process your message and the information it contains in order to answer it. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where a contract is being initiated. I do not pass this data on and delete it once the enquiry is settled and no statutory retention period applies.
Encryption
The site is served over HTTPS. Transmission between your browser and the server is therefore encrypted.
Your rights
You have the right to information about the data stored about you, to rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, to data portability, and a right to object to processing based on a legitimate interest. Please use the address given in the imprint.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority is the Austrian Data Protection Authority, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna.
Status
This statement applies to the website in its current form. If a function is added that processes data differently — a form, analytics, an embedded service — it will be updated beforehand.
